Fluoride: the mother of all band-aids
Thursday, 08 January 2009
By David Gillespie

Nobody gets tooth decay by drinking water, but Coca-Cola recently announced they were “investigating the possibility of including fluoride in some of [their] bottled waters”. A strange announcement given water drinkers are not the ones who need the tender ministrations of industrial medication.

Juice and soft drink gulpers are the ones who need help with their teeth, but government and now Big Sugar are carpet bombing the water drinkers rather than laser targeting the sugar drinkers.

Researchers have known since the 60s that tooth decay is caused by a little chap called Streptococcus mutans (SM). It is one of the 200 to 300 species of bacteria that inhabit our mouths.

SM is a little unusual though. It’s rather like a koala in that it only really likes one thing to eat. No, not gum leaves. SM wants sugar. To be more precise, SM likes the two components of sugar, glucose and fructose in exactly the proportions they are found in sugar, 50/50.

In hundreds of well controlled studies, scientists have been able to determine that feeding SM sugar causes it to produce plaque and lactic acid. Plaque is the gummy coating on teeth. If you feed SM pure glucose or fructose it can only produce the acid. It can’t make plaque without sugar and without plaque there is no decay. If you want to rot teeth, the most effective way is to give SM a constant wash of sugar solution (like soft drink or fruit juice). Eating sugar in food still works but it is nowhere near as effective at helping SM do its job.

SM has really enjoyed our change in diet in the last few decades. The amount of sugar laden, soft drink, juice and flavoured milk we drink has risen from virtually nothing prior to World War II to almost 1 litre per person per day (PDF 1.04MB). Consumption of soft drink alone has more than doubled in the last 30 years. And with this our need for dental services has also risen exponentially.

Unfortunately fixing decayed teeth is monumentally expensive, so our governments have been reluctant to include those costs in our “free” public health system. The number of decayed teeth (PDF 1.86MB) in the mouth of the average six-year-old increased by 11.4 per cent between 1990 and 1999. And Australia now spends 1 in every 10 health dollars on those white (well, yellowish) things in our mouths. The health cost is accelerating almost as fast as the sales of soft drink.

Our governments, desperate to avoid the popular demand for them to pay the bill for a disease that affects everyone (that consumes sugar), have increasingly turned to the quick-fix solution of mass medication using fluoride. And there is no denying that mass fluoride medication has an economic appeal. Victoria estimates that it has saved more than $1 billion in public dental services in the three decades since it started pumping fluoride into its water supplies. Big Sugar doesn’t mind some free marketing, so has clearly jumped on board with the message.

The chemical used most commonly for water fluoridation is fluorosilicic acid. It is produced as a co-product from the manufacture of phosphate fertilisers. Because some people have concerns that putting such a thing in our water supply might not be a good thing, the World Health Organisation (WHO) conducted a thorough review of the health effects of fluoride in 2002.

The WHO report concluded that there was at least a 12.5 per cent reduction in the number of dental cavities in communities where water fluoridation had been introduced. These numbers are supported out by a recent Australian study (PDF 1.1MB) which show that the average six-year-old will have one less decayed tooth (which still leaves two) if there is fluoride in the water.

The problem is that 90 per cent of swallowed fluoride is retained by the body. Fluoride accumulates in the bone (and tooth) internal structure and ultimately causes a disease called fluorosis. The WHO report noted that the risk of dental and skeletal fluorosis was significantly increased in areas where the water was heavily fluoridated. Over time, the accumulation of fluoride may result in increased brittleness leading to crumbling teeth and more easily broken bones.

And WHO aren’t the only ones raising red flags. The risks associated with swallowing too much fluoride are so real that earlier this year the American Dental Association put out a warning to mothers (PDF 23.1KB) not to mix infant feeding formula with fluoridated water.

Not even the most wildly supportive research suggests that fluoridating water cures tooth decay. It merely defers the problem and the expense of treatment. The price for treating less decayed teeth now, is that someone in the future can deal with elderly people suffering continuous fractures.

You don’t have to look too hard to see why. Fluoridation lets government and Big Sugar alike look like they are doing something tangible about dental health without actually doing anything which challenges the status quo. At the same time politicians can justify the closure of public dentistry facilities (such as school clinics) because they have “solved” the problem. And they can defer discussion about who should pay for dental health until somebody else’s watch. Best of all, the “treatment” is administered without asking any voter to change their lifestyle.

Strangely, neither government nor Big Sugar appears to be contemplating the possibility of removing or changing the sugary drinks that cause the problem in the first place.

If mass medication is the way we solve society’s lifestyle influenced health problems, then why stop at fluoride? Bowel cancer is growing at unprecedented rates, so let’s back the Metamucil trucks up to the reservoirs and the bottling plants. Too many of us still smoke, so how about dumping a load of whatever they put in nicotine patches into the water as well. Maybe if we tip in a few hundred gallons of anti-depressant, we could even do something about our falling consumer confidence (there’s an idea, Kevin). The possibilities are endless.

I am part of many groups trying to stop our Government poisoning our water supplies with silicofluoride S6 poisons - the media have steadfastly and robotlike refused to publish anything sent to them speaking against these poisons in the water; how wonderful to see Science Alert Australia and New Zealand fluoride: the mother of all bandaids; I shall include if I may a few things, I hope that is ok.
some conflicts of interests

1. The majority of inquiry members would not report the scientific, medical, dental and court evidence received in worldwide submissions proving that fluoridation causes disease, deaths, tooth decay and is useless and environmentally destructive. http://www.americanchronicle.com/articles/33574

.................................................
2. Extract: Massive Corruption, Collusion and Conflict of Interest The same individuals promoting the addition of fluorides to the water supplies also serve on the FDA Dental Products Advisory Board. Fluoridation equipment makers, fluoride suppliers, and federal and state health department staff serve on the American Water Works Association's "Fluoride Standards Board." The American Dental Association, who receives public funds, also receives hundreds of thousands of dollars from Proctor and Gamble, Lever Brothers, Colgate, Warner Lambert, Johnson & Johnson, and others in the fluoride business. After the American Dental Association endorsed "Crest" toothpaste in October 1960, it became known that the officials responsible for the endorsement of Crest toothpaste had personally profited financially from the immediate rise of $8 per share in Proctor and Gamble Stocks.

Further extract below from 1980.

In 1980, a toxicologist Brian Dementi at the Virginia Department of Health, wrote a comprehensive report on "Fluoride and Drinking Water" that suggested possible health risks from fluoridation. The 36-page study has been /purged/ from the department's library even though it is the only one the department has prepared on the subject. Spokemen apparently say the report was "thrown away because it was old", while maintaining that "the department will be preparing another report on the subject soon."

Another extract: The 1985 WHO report was not the only thing under fire. Criticism of reports on fluorides authored by the EPA were also under scrutiny. According to Robert J. Carton, an environmental scientist at the EPA, the scientific assessment of fluorides health risks written by the agency in 1985 "omits 90% of the literature on mutagenicity, most of which suggests fluoride is a mutagen."

SMH article from 2003
extract:

In 2000, Australia recorded the second-worst levels of fillings, missing teeth and cavities among the OECD for 35- to 44-year-olds, while a recent survey found the rate of gum disease has almost doubled among the over-65 population during the past 14 years. (strange since so much silicofluoride S6 poisoning of Australia's water supplies already for many years).

Researchers from Westmead Hospital's Institute of Dental Research also released results of new research last month that showed they had discovered more than 20 new species of the Prevotella bacteria, which reside within decaying human teeth.

The institute's director, Professor Neil Hunter, says the bacteria, which have the potential to cause a wide range of infections such as sinusitis, pneumonia, meningitis and wound infections, are becoming more prevalent due to public health measures, including water fluoridation.

"Fluoridated teeth have hard shells but they decay and they hollow," he says. "Fluoride makes the outside of the tooth very hard but they are like a tree - the bark on the outside can appear very hard but the inside can be rotten and you won't discover this until the tree falls over."

(Di comment: in my opinion this is certainly an admission that "fluoride" is totally ineffective; and we know it's incredibly dangerous..... ineffective + dangerous.. what we've all said all along).

(Di comment: ALL Australians need access to affordable dentistry + oral hygiene guidance) NOT SILICOFLUORIDE S6 POISONS IN THEIR WATER SUPPLIES.

"These bacteria invade a tooth when there is a small defect and once they get within the hard surface, there really is not that much stopping them."

This link www.pauapress.com/fluoride/files/1418.pdf
accesses information about adverse health effects from fluoridation that The Establishment claims do not exist.

Via this link you can access, free, Dr Bruce Spittle's book "Fluoride Fatigue" that is sub-titled "Fluoride Poisoning: is fluoride in your drinking water and from other sources making you sick?"

Please turn to page 76 and read about the author who has received numerous medical awards and prizes.

Dr Spittle is the Managing Editor of "Fluoride" the official journal of the International Society for Fluoride Research and has meticulously referenced "Fluoride Fatigue" for the doubting Thomases who still think that fluoridation is safe for all.

Gillespie's figure of 90 per cent for retention of swallowed fluoride is much higher than is usually quoted. For people with healthy kidneys it is closer to 50 per cent.

I firmly believe that the reason Anna Bligh refused to hold a Referendum on fluoridated water is because she knew she would 'lose' and she was determined to go ahead with it.
There is NO reason to fluoridate our water supply, the real reason for tooth decay is poor diet and poor dental hygiene. It would have been much better to spend the money educating those individuals who are incapable of looking after their own and their families' dental care and eating a proper healthy diet.

as you are all thinking people or you wouldn't be reading this ,I invite you to do your own research into byproducts of the Florida Organo Phosphate Industry( guess what--no prizes).
Also the difficulty andcost of disposing of those highly toxic!!!!! by-products and the genius of those who cmae up with the idea of disposing of them by feeding them to the general population--yes you are on the right track!!
Try the "Brasscheck TV" link on internet for the appalling history of our fluoride poisoning.
The truth about this chemical has been known at all times since it's inception!!
Supportive research both flawed and fraudulent!!
Heads of both New Zealand and Canadian water services resigned back in 80s(I think-old age doesn't come alone - might have been earlier) over plans to introduce F into public water supplies--God bless their little cotton socks!!!--Integrity in public life --whowould believe it could happen

The whole question can be resolved by contacting local county health department for the AWWA Standard for Fluorosilicic Acid B703-06. The members page, contents (entire page of contaminants including heavy metals and "radionuclides" as uranium and radium), and Foreword will answer the debate over the commercial-grade agent regulated by EPA. Dental products are all pharmaceutical-grade regulated by FDA.

In "The Geology of Florida" 1997, University Press of Florida, page 143 reads: "In addition to uranium, fluorine is an economical byproduct of phosphoric-acid production. The fluorine from the rock reacts with silica to form SiF4 gas. During acid production this gas is recovered as fluorosilicic acid (H2SiF6) in wet scrubbers that are part of the environmental-protection equipment. Fluorosilicic acid is widely used in the preparation of chemical compounds and in the treatment of public drinking water."

P.S. "Natural fluoride" in the water is usually Calcium-fluoride. The most effective antidote for fluoride poisoning is calcium-gluconate, noted in the government book: Toxicological Profile for Fluorides, Hydrogen Fluoride and Fluorine (F)1993, pages 112 and 125. When spills occur, Lime is used to neutralize the fluorosilicic acid as happened in Deltona, Florida.

The scientists that put flouride into the water have to wear safety suits becuase it is a dangerous chemical. If you sniff pure flouride your dead.
If people continue to have poor nutrition such as drinking soda, then flouride will never help anyway. Dentists can only prove flouride is benefical for the teeth-they cant prove that is unsafe to drink.

(check spelling) At the source of this whole farce are the same assholes in pursuit of absolute geopolitical power. Originaly, at the core of the fluoride propaganda matrix, is the US war machine who actively suported US steel industries attempts to turn fluoride from poison to potion to assist their issues with serious litigation due to US war machine facing THE VERY SAME LITIGATION FROM WORKERS/NEARBY VILLAGES: FLUORIDE WAS BEING USED TO ENRICH URANIUM FOR THE ATOMIC BOMB PROGRAM. Nowdays, aside from the "follow the money" game its real purpose is as a "mood stabiliser" for the purpose of MIND CONTROL. Google FLUORIDE NAZI'S, NWO, AGENDA 21, nuff said.

In recent months the ukcaf have unearthed and court ruling that putting fluoride in bottled water is indeed classified under "medicinal law". Most of Europe does not fluoridate because they are against "mass" medication by a know toxic poison.
The Euopean Cour of Justice also rules that fluoride is "not a nutrient" as it is not a part of the physiology of the human body.
This ruing is at present being legally invesitigated because of govt. suppression of this ruling since 2005. The implications are enormous as it will interfer with EC international trade and noting grown, feed or washed with the silicofluorides will be allowed to enter the EC.
This is a very powerful piece of legislation that may finally put an end to this fradulent practise once and for all. For more up to date information on these preceedings which are being intently watched google ukcaf.
Keep up the good work everyone and hopefully this will come to an end.
