Dear readers,

It's been another great year for Australian and New Zealand science. We hope you've all enjoyed reading about the latest breakthroughs and discoveries as much as we have.

Thank you so much for your continued support this year. Our traffic has continued to grow, as has our Facebook page, which now has almost 10,000 fans. It's been great to be able to interact with you and hear your feedback.

ScienceAlert will be closing down over Christmas for some much needed rest. But we'll be back on 4 January with all of the news from over the break, as well as lots of interesting features and opinions for your holiday reading.

We wish you all a very happy and relaxing festive season and can't wait to see you in the new year.
